Heavenly is not billed as the best resort for beginners. However, for intermediates and advanced skiers and snowboarders it is a mecca of white gold. One third of the mountain is designated for expert skiers and you cannot go far wrong taking the mogul infested terrain of the Gunbarrel. About half of the mountain is classified for intermediates and the remainder is beginner slopes. Most people access the mountain via the 2.4 mile gondola. The resort typically receives 360 inches of snow per year, with the key months being December through March. The only real shortcoming of Heavenly mountain is that it’s season does finish a little earlier than the other Tahoe resorts.
