Keystone, Colorado, USA

Keystone mountain has for a long time focused its attention on being a family friendly resort. In recent years they have also courted the adventurous skier by opening new terrain accessed by snowcats. The unique combination of both of these has resulted in a resort that offers great value and vastly underrated terrain.

The illusion of Keystone is that when you approach the resort much of the mountain is hidden. It is only once you have reached the summit of Dercum Mountain that you see the expanse of North Peak and The Outback laid out in front of you. The Outback offers some of the best tree skiing in the state of Colorado, with names like Bush Wacker and Porcupine, the bristly nature of the trees is not to be underestimated! Here you can also take advantage of the ‘pay as you go’ Snowcat service to access 858 acres of coveted bowl skiing. You can also take advantage of all day Snowcat tours that access dedicated terrain exclusively set aside for your group. Now if you have built up enough of an appetite, stop off at the Outpost on North Peak to either enjoy the huge open fire at the restaurant or go next door to the Alpenglow Stube where you trade in your boots for cozy slippers and a gourmet buffet.
