(December 4, 2012 - Teton Village, WY) The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is pleased to announce the new Casper Lift is scheduled to open Thursday this week, followed by the Bridger Gondola, Marmot and Thunder lifts opening on Saturday, December 8th. On Sunday, December 9th the Resort anticipates opening the Aerial Tram for the winter season. Twenty two inches of snow fell last weekend allowing the Resort opening new terrain for skiers and riders this week. With another storm cycle rapidly moving toward the Tetons, the Resort is expecting another significant amount of new snow. Presently snow totals for the year are above normal, with 100 inches season to date in the Tetons, which have received the most snow of any region in the Rockies.

Ranked as the No. 1 Ski Resort by Forbes Magazine and No. 4 by Condé Nast Traveler readers’ poll.

For the second year in a row, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is ranked as the No. 1 Ski Resort by Forbes Magazine in a Dec. 3, 2012, story as well as No. 4 by a 2012 Condé Nast Traveler readers’ poll. As the Forbes story points out, terrain “matters for both beginners and experts.” It is just this that Jackson Hole Mountain Resort prides itself on. As soon as the new Aerial Tram was unveiled in 2008 – the ultimate portal for unbound expert terrain – the Resort dove into a three-year transformation of the Casper intermediate area located mid-mountain by installing a high-speed, 4-passenger chairlift, widening runs and improving the trail network.

The resort’s commitment to all ability levels is as deep as the Tetons’ legendary snowpack. From learning the basics to fine-tuning techniques, and cruising groomers to touring the backcountry, Jackson Hole makes everyone who skis it better, more confident and more capable of exploring. True to its cowboy-meets-cosmopolitan style, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has tamed the wild Tetons into terrain accessible to all. And with three valley hotels ranked in the top 7 by Condé Nast, Jackson Hole is a destination all unto its own.

Jackson Hole continues to famously deliver our legendary powder snow, 4,139 continuous vertical feet, 2500 acres of the best beginner, intermediate and expert skiing and snowboarding and a genuine “Last of the Old West” atmosphere. Three years of extensive investments in grooming, snowmaking, lifts and visitor services across the mountain have created an entirely new mountain experience for a broad variety of guests and we intend to continue to broaden this appeal. Neighboring the legacy National Parks of Yellowstone and Grand Teton and operating in Grand Teton National Forest there is no more spectacular setting for a destination resort in the world. Now with nine nonstop cities (and hundreds of connections) flying to the newly expanded airport, Jackson Hole is one of the most easily accessed destination resorts in the West.
